Cairns

A recent trip to Cairns meant the kayak stayed home. I had a fun day fishing with my son and we caught some interesting fish including a reef shark.

Windsor - Hawkesbury River

Recent trips from Windsor saw good numbers of Australian Bass although quite small.

Wisemans Ferry

Fishing the mouth of the McDonald River to find a good catch of Flathead and Bream.  Using hard body lures, on the run in tide.
Also plenty of Australian Bass along the walls either side of the ferry.

A Good Day Out

What does a good day out in the kayak require?

Here are some more pictures of some days out in the kayak. To me, a good day is any day spent out on the water. Add to this some good company, a little competition around the size of fish caught and then fresh fish for lunch and I call it a good day.

Getting ready to cook up some fresh Flathead for lunch.

Always a good day on the water. These old oyster leases at Mooney Mooney always produce some Bream and Flathead when using soft plastic and hard body lures.

Every rest spot has a great view.

Good mates make the day even better.

Welcome to Aussie Kayak Fishing!

My name is Scott and I am a keen kayak fisherman. This site is essentially a diary of my activities, thoughts and experiences as I endeavour to learn more about the art of catching fish from a kayak.

Sunrise is a great time to target the Australian Bass with surface lures.

I live in the Hawkesbury, near Sydney NSW Australia. Most of my fishing is in the Hawkesbury River, which provides great salt water fishing from Wiseman's Ferry through to Brooklyn. Freshwater in the Colo River, Grose River and the Hawkesbury Nepean system are excellent for finding Australian Bass and other species.
Please check in from time to time and add your thoughts, tell some of your stories and be a contributor to this blog for Kayak Fishermen and women everywhere

Dagger Drifter - excellent for fishing

Choosing the right Kayak for you.

I chose a Dagger Drifter after looking at a wide range of kayaks.
